IOS- Balsiger Hearing Disrupted

IOS -
BALSIGER HEARING
DISRUPTED DUE TO JUDGE ILLNESS

During a hearing this past Wednesday as to whether all charges against businessman Chris Balsiger ended suddenly after the presiding Federal Magistrate Patricia Gorence suffered a medical emergency during the hearing. She was taken to the hospital by paramedics after being attended by U.S. Marshals

Judge Gorence had been presiding over the hearing for about 45 minutes when she suddenly started to speak unintelligibly and her face began to sag. After Paramedics attended, she walked out on her own to a waiting ambulance with the assistance of the paramedics. She was taken to Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital she was listed in stable condition.

The case that Gorence was presiding over is one in which prosecutors have alleged that nine executives and contractors of International Outsourcing Services ran a fraud that netted at least $250 million over 10 years.

No date for a new hearing has been set. (Times Staff Report) El Paso Texas
